What is ThermiSmooth?
ThermiSmooth is a radiofrequency (RF) skin tightening treatment for fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin.
It’s usually performed on the cheeks, around the mouth, and on the neck, but it can also treat the forehead and around the eyes. Improving the appearance of aging skin through tightening and increasing collagen production over a period of time.
How does ThermiSmooth work?
The ThermiSmooth uses a unique hand piece to deliver targeted heating to the surface of the skin.
By transmitting radiofrequency energy as controlled heat into the dermis (the lower layer of the skin), ThermiSmooth causes the skin’s foundational collagen protein fibers to contract which triggers a natural inflammatory response that has shown to accelerate cell regeneration.
Collagen provides the skin with structure and elasticity, but its production slows with age, so skin becomes thinner, looser, and more crepey. Heat-based energy treatments target collagen fibers and the cells that produce them (called fibroblasts). Skin becomes tighter, smoother, and more supple.
After applying a gel that helps conduct heat safely, the handheld ThermiSmooth Face device is put onto the treatment area and done in a circular motion. Each area is then targeted for 5–15 minutes.
Radiofrequency energy is transmitted through the skin without breaking the surface. The device adjusts its temperature in response to your skin heating, maintaining a comfortable level of heat the whole time.
No anesthetic is needed. You can expect your treatment to feel like a warm massage, though you should let your provider know if it feels too hot so they can adjust the temperature to keep you comfortable.
How long until I should see results with ThermiSmooth?
Each ThermiSmooth session should last 30–45 minutes.
Boosting collagen production is a gradual process and it takes weeks, if not several months, to see noticeable effects from new protein fibers and renewed cells.
An initial series of three to six ThermiSmooth Facial treatment sessions, spaced two to four weeks apart, are recommended.
Are there any side effects I should be aware of?
Side effects include minor redness and swelling, but you should be able to continue with your day post-treatment, with no recovery required.
